A little about me
My name is Morgan Cavender. I'm a wife, mental health counseling graduate student, vegan baker and an avid makeup geek. Makeup has never been about security or masking anything for me as it is for some. It has always been about the creative expression and empowerment it brings people. I love seeing makeup change a client's perspective. I believe women are amazing warriors that often don't realize how valuable they are! Sometimes it takes something as simple as makeup to help us see what was there all along.
I started by doing makeup on myself (like everyone else). I was awful at it. It took several years for me to feel comfortable and find my rhythm. Once I hit my makeup groove my confidence soared. My friends noticed and couldn't help but ask what was up. Pretty soon I was doing their makeup, giving them tips and recommending products. What started out as a hobby quickly became a talent in demand. The very first wedding I ever did was a friend's. Let's just say it was trial by fire. Not only did I do the bride's makeup, but 5 bridesmaids that I hadn't planned on doing. It somehow turned out alright and everyone was happy. I caught the makeup fever after that first wedding. I was hungry for more weddings, events and anyone's face I could get my hands on. A while after that first wedding I got a job at a popular cosmetics counter. Working with clients every day of all ages, skin types and preferences helped me learn more than I ever had. I was able to learn a lot from other artists and really fine tune my art. After leaving that job I started freelance work. I've done makeup for everything from body building competitions to senior portraits to prom to weddings. I love helping people feel and look their best on important days in their life. What's better than that? |
Meet my co-artist
- My name is Meagan Tally and I'm from Phenix City, Alabama. I'm an Auburn student, a secret hippie and an exercise junkie. I've loved makeup for as long as I can remember. It's been a creative outlet and expression of my personality. I grew up using Lancome makeup. One day when I was in the mall picking up my foundation, the Lancome artist at the counter told me they were hiring. I applied and have worked there ever since! (Going on three years now).
- I've helped clients of all ages and skin types and have had a rare opportunity to develop my skills as an artist over the years. My makeup brushes don't meet a face they don't like!
- I met Morgan in 2015 and we became fast friends. Ever since, we've collaborated and learned a lot from each other. We've enjoyed freelance work together and wouldn't spend our weekends any other way!
